Aubrey Valentine had made a few mistakes the last few days. His first being that he told his younger sister about the Harvest Ball to which the date was approaching quickly. His second mistake was giving into the plethora of pleas that the young girl had thrown at him day after day. However, none of those were as big as the last two mistakes that would now hang over his head for the rest of the night. The third mistake was that he actually brought the pink-haired squirrel to the Ball. His fourth mistake was leaving her alone to do as she pleased as he went to flirt with whomever he was interested in that night. Which is exactly how Adora had gotten herself into a tiny bit of trouble.
The young girl bore the same wide smile she normally always had plastered on her face. Her large eyes scanned the crowd for anyone she may know. However, she was not gifted for things such as that. She was a good two feet shorter than the average female standing at about three feet – three feet and ten inches at most. Failing to find anyone, she opted to spending her time painting pumpkins. Now, anyone that knew the young girl would have enough sense to keep her away from things such as paint. Or pumpkins for that matter. All it takes is a wild imagination and blank canvases to let all hell break lose. And lose hell did break.
Zipping her way to the stall, she snatched the first plump pumpkin that caught her eye and sat down in front of it. Snagging herself a brush and multiple colors of paint, she let her dreams take control. Slowly but surely, her creations started to take shape. Angry eyes were painted on the orange surface and sharp teeth protruded from a gaping mouth. Before she knew it, she had a whole army of pumpkin monsters of varying sizes and colors. She sat in front of her brain-babies, wide eyes taking in the scene of all the monsters that had spawned from her little hands. The biggest of them being the first.
A tiny giggle bubbled up as she raised her hand, wiping any stray paint from her face. Though, that didn’t help too much. She was practically covered in it. Smear on her cheeks and hands not to mention random blotches running her clothing. Not like she cared. Somehow she ended up this dirty by the end of every day. It was just natural to her.
Eventually, a story started to form in her head though, whatever that story may have been is a mystery to all but the girl. All that mattered was that, despite what people may tell her, it was as real as she was. The story may have started with happy giggles and excited clapping but it soon morphed into whatever made her first pumpkin so angry – that being, the littler pumpkins picking on the bigger one because he was different. An abnormal frown curved her lips and her brows furrowed in slight frustration and annoyance at the creatures before her.
Normally, a sane person would think nothing of it. Though, normally, a sane person wouldn’t legitimately believe that the pumpkins sitting before them were real. All the laws of logic and reality flew out of the window when Adora was in the room. Adora’s imagination seemed to have taken her on a special hayride straight to Coo-Coo Town because within in the next instant, she was up on her feet, yelling at the pumpkins. “No, you stop it! Leave him alone,” there was a pause as if she were actually listening to a reply before starting off once more, “I said stop it! I don’t care! You’re just being a meany-boo-boo-head!”
The young girl bent down and picked up two of the smaller pumpkins. Lips set in a determined scowl as she quickly cocked her arm back before letting. One. Fly.
