"You blew away my storm and strife and shook the bones of me" "Oh, yeah, suuuure, you do, kid," it was bitter, the iron lantern trembling between his fingers as he swung it into the cavern's mouth—wide, gaping, with a slight hint of must lingering in the air that swirled as he stepped inside. Swiping the wet hair from his eyes, Odd observed the beast's belly curiously, "What the hell are we sittin' around for. Just kick someone out of a house with your powers. They do something, don't they? I forgot what." [/i] He stepped over crags, stalagmites jutting like spikes from patches of dirt and wind calling the hills, a haunting echo while the light flickered weakly. "They," Odd added simply, rustling for a match from his pocket, "aren't useful for things like this." The voice tched, disembodied as the fire twitched in its hold, "Damn straight they aren't. I still can't tell what the hell they actually do." He shrugged, and Seppel scoffed at his indifference while he set it alight and tucked his lantern away from the storm outside. Dropping onto a moderately clean, altogether very nice rock in a patch of shadow, they shared a long silence—a man and his lantern, one at the other's feet as he shuffled. Sneering, Seppel broke it with a callous murmur of, "Let that damn flame go out and I'll kill you. For every life anyone lets you have." Odd said nothing for a time, considering his answer—in very much the same drawn-out, overly complicated manner in which he weighed everything—and grinned before leaning forward, hands on his knees. As easy as a spring breeze, he offered a cheery, "Haha, at least you can't haunt me, right?" There was no answer for a time, the wind singing her praises of his play on 'comedic timing' as rain came in torrentsslow at first, before violently exploding into a downpour. “Wasn't funny?” "No, it was a riot and I'm hurtin', kid,"[/i] it was straight-forward, a flat, hair-curling statement typical of Seppel as Odd leaned back graciously, "And wouldn't want to. It would be like being dead all over again. Dry and way too quiet—nothing would be going on, how boring would that be, damn!" [/i] "I guess you know a lot about it," he was off-hand, and already very much accustomed to his complaints after two years of being together, "I didn't expect to get here as fast as this. We really were lucky." They were travelers of a sort—a magical knight who guided souls and his spirit, a demon who had the good fortune to tangle with Death himself—and lived day-to-day, parading the forest paths and enjoying the smell of rain and pine. (Or, at the very least, Odd did that. Seppel's main concern was making his points heard, and heard loudly. Dead or not, he was first priority, and always would be if he had anything to say about it.) Homes and roofs and doors were all strange, shocking things since he left home, and Odd preferred the trees and woods to anything else. There was shelter in even the strangest of places, but thunderheads were gathered on the horizon, black and deadly while they rolled in from the coast. (That and Seppel was deathly afraid of anything that might blow him out. Odd wasn't going to allow that if he could avoid it.) "Yeah. That's exactly how to put it, way to go, kid,"[/i] yawning, Odd wasted no time listening to his mocking as he wrestled his sword from its sheath. His bags—although they barely classified as that, their leather raggedy and torn at corners with string hanging limply from the seams—were already abandoned as he ran his thumb along the blade, pressing his whetstone against the steel carefully with the other. “I know,” it was one part apathy and one part dark humor, Seppel snorting in reply before things were hushed again. 'I wonder if—what,' and Odd stood at attention, listening to footsteps on the mountainside; loud, perhaps a male, and one who was either not used to to the trek up the cliff side or ignoring the impressive amount of noise he made. (Then again, Odd would admit that he never expected to find anyone else up here too, as it was more than 'maybe a tad out of the way. Maybe.') OOC: LEAVE ME ALONE, I TRIED. D8< SAM TRIED. Btw, Bold/Italic is Seppel his magical not!poe, if you know Legend of Zelda and bold text alone is Odd speaking. :'D (I hope this looks okay . . . was my first table thingy ever. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,480,true][bg=ffffff] ▐ ODD, OPEN ▐ 939 ▐ I THINK, I FAILED THIS ONE - FOR SUURES. AND AWHS, :'D IT'S PRETTY ! DIDN'T EVEN MAKE 1K ; A ;
▐ Another day, wasted. Sin yawned as he woke up, under a tree. Looking up at the sky, he blinked then reached out his arms as far as he could. Whenever Sin skipped school before, he would always hide in the deep parts of the woods. No one would and could find him there - well, that was when he was young, at the least. However now, whenever he skips school, no one even tries to find him anymore because it's the biggest way you could waste your time. There was no use in finding Sin when he wants to hide from you, especially in the forest where he always used to play around.
▐ The boy yawned once again, getting up this time. The day had still yet to be gone even if he felt like he has slept for days. The sliver headed young boy turned around to see his surroundings, trying to remember his best where he was. Sleep can do many things to you. Many things like, for example, make you forget where you even were and make because of that gets you lost in a deep forest. Sin looked up, still not remembering how he even got to the place where he was at yet. He took a deep breathe, closed his eyes and calmed his mind - trying to recall every step he had taken. Sin remembered waking up in the morning, half-asleep then dragging himself to school, only remembering that there was a test during his first period class. After that, he remembered walking out of school - pretending he was sick and going to the doctor. On his way to the doctor's, he had taken the wrong turn on purpose and walked up his way into the forest. Of course after that everything kind of went blank. The sleep must have erased his memories - for the time being. Sin sighed, not wanting to think anymore, he had just woken up and really was still dizzy after sleeping for so long. He didn't want to hurt his brain any further.
▐ The only thing he could think up of was to walk around, maybe it'll help refresh his memory or he'll find somebody he knows and just fool around them then get out with them. As he took his first steps he thought a while, wondering who would really come into the deep part of the forest but, him. His friends were pretty crazy but, not as crazy to wonder into the deepest part of the forest and sleep there. Maybe, he'll find someone else - perhaps a beautiful fairy who'll guide his way out. Sin laughed at his own thought - totally, that'll happen.
▐ At the least, he was enjoying his walk down the cliffs of the moutain side. He skipped through most of the forest already, not really even knowing if he had went in a circle already but, at least enjoying the slide down the cliff. Well, that was until he reached down he had spotted someone. Sin's face lid up - more than it already was - and he quickly made his way towards the man. To him, the man had looked rather weird - a bit poor perhaps but, then again he came from a pretty wealthy family so he wouldn't know, he finds many things - oh people, he meant people - to look poor. The first thing he notice was the man's sword, out in the open then the lantern. Sin gave him a quick weird glance, who carries a lantern during day light? Wacko - was his first impression of the guy.
▐ However, ignoring his thoughts, Sin skipped towards the older looking male. "Ohhai there~!" he greeted, with a big grin on his face, a grin big enough to wonder if he really meant it or it was just a fake. "Good thing I found you! I didn't think anyone else was crazy enough to come this deep into the forest." They had just met and Sin had already succeeded in insulting the other party. Of course, he didn't even realize his own insult for, being rude was like drinking milk every morning for him. "Oh right, I am Sin Etherton, and I am apparently lost in the woods after falling asleep while skipping class. Who might you be?" He asked, as simple as that. He had introduced himself pretty well - he had even included his last name and told the guy why he was here. Maybe he'll know the way out - maybe. Unless the guy lived here then perhaps Sin could bunk with him for the night or something. How fun, sleeping with a random stranger.

"You blew away my storm and strife and shook the bones of me" His initial response was to gape, blinded by his devil-may-care attitude—this was a cave, which perhaps implied some level of distance from the common, beaten path of most people. (Odd himself was not most people, and the rule of 'caution before reason' never necessarily applied since he regularly dealt in death.) With all this talk of demons rising to the occasion and the White Knight dying before his prime, the forest's visitors fell to a trickle of strange travelers, thieves crusading for the poor—which could always be themselves, make no mistake—and demons in the underbrush. Everyone else really didn't matter enough for him to remember, and he rested his sword against the slab of rock at his feet, reluctantly letting go of the hilt in good sportsmanship.
Odd kept quiet while the boy paraded inside, busily handing out an entire life story—Seppel, however, entertained no fantasies of politeness, "The crap is this. Your own fault you're here, no one is going to be moved to tears—have fun wherever the hell I am not." [/b] He paused, shaken from his surprise as Seppel's voice swelled in the silence; coming from nowhere, scratchy and bitter. Tapping his foot against the iron gently, the lantern swirled on its axis as Seppel thoroughly 'explored' his colorful vocabulary— "Fu—damnit, don't do that, it's scary as all hell, and this thing ain't no palace, kid! You want to deal with that until the storm lets up! Dunno about you, but I have high standards!"[/i]—before clattering to a standstill with a grumbled, "Tch."[/i] Odd was not offended, a partner is a partner no matter how he chooses to speak, and turned his attention to 'Sin Etherton.' His name was surprising in a distant way, but Odd's was nothing paramount to excellence, and he had no right to go about judging him. Blond, dressed well compared to most people these days, and who apparently did not care very much about school or where he was even. He shrugged it away, struggling between the urge to leave himself—not because of Sin's attitude, but Seppel's refusal to waste time on anyone except Odd—or to wait, being that he pledged to help the common man when he was knighted. Finally settling on something neutral, he offered a brief, "Odd. We can bond over bad luck." Listening intently, he knew well enough to wait when someone was talking because he had no talent for taking the lead, and grinned in good-humor, "Crazy? Hey, we're here, right?" Seeing how his smile broke his face in halves, Sin looked as though he was making too much of an attempt to be friendly, but Odd rarely indulged in suspicion. (And most people were hardly patient with him to begin with, which made it a nice gesture in its own way.) He could enjoy new company if it wasn't too painful for his ears, and he had no reason to be cold to someone he who he had never met before. "Apparently lost, eh. Oh, great, kid," Seppel declared drily, "We got ourselves a moron. This'll be fun, I can't wait. Come on, guy's a walking red light! Probably one of those bandits who steals all your crap or somethin'. Not that we really have anything—"[/i] the fire sent sparks bucking into the shadow, hissing and snapping wildly under its iron hood before he slipped a finger through the hook, letting it dangle from side to side. (Seppel, his flame trembling in the cold, sneered a dangerous and low, “HEY, EASY ON ME, ODD. I CAN BE QUIET IF HE CAN.”[/i]) "Could say the same about you, Seppel," it was barely above a whisper—half-joking, and he snorted indignantly when Odd turned away. Letting the lantern rest on the boulder at his feet, he fell to a thoughtful silence, and titled his chin upwards before leaning back again. Part of him was curious and busy with questions. What brought a student to the woods, and perhaps he had training before if he could leave with no scratches to pay tribute to his travels. Central was not far from Longwood, but it had a strange aura that haunted treetops crowding the horizon and creaks as they purred and grew to rapids. Managing to get this far in without help was a feat in and of itself, particularly with a storm brewing to life on the coastline. ”Sorry,” it was offhand, spoken casually to Sin in hopes he simply hadn't heard Seppel where that not damn near impossible, “Uh, he's flippant.” Explanations were not his forte, and most were unnerved by the idea of phantoms and ghosts and poltergeist taking refuge in your lanterns. If he left, then he left, and far be it from Odd to tell him other wise. OOC: WELL. ODD IS ALMOST A FAIRY. SHOT'D Okai, not rly. :'"D And you still wrote a lot, Ms. Modest!
